Supporting Community Health Along the Mosquito Coast

Last week, Global Links sent two shipments to health centers in five communities along the Honduran Mosquito Coast, where access to healthcare is difficult. Having well-equipped health centers means the populations of these communities can receive basic medical care without having to travel to a distant city, and can address routine medical problems before they become too complicated.

This project supported health centers staffed by graduates of Cuba’s Latin American Medical School (ELAM), a corps of doctors who have demonstrated their commitment to helping their own people live healthier lives.

Two ELAM graduates, Dr. Gisele Echeverría and Dr. Mayra Haylock, in the clinic in Cauquira, which was included in this recent project.
