Volunteer Gains New Appreciation for Medical Supplies

I recently received the following note from one of our long-time volunteers who was recovering from surgery:

When I looked at my splint I found a new appreciation for the simple items Global Links ships like tape and batting, splints, and bandages. When I received your card and saw the Global Links sticker on the return address it made me think about all the items that Global Links sends out. Each and every item is so important because they change lives on so many levels. The medical personnel can provide medical care and the patients can have their bodies repaired which is glorious in itself.

Global Links also sends hope and lets our friends beyond our borders know that we really care about them- body, mind, and quality of life.  I think Global Links’ shipments are like kaleidoscopes. The shipping containers are filled with interesting pieces which come together to provide endless patterns of hope, information, transformation, and healing. They really are a beautiful thing.

I am grateful to all of you for all the work you do. It’s an absolute privilege to be a part of Global Links.

We are privileged to have such a dedicated volunteer corps that make our work possible.  Without the hundreds of individuals and groups from across the greater Pittsburgh community who volunteer with us to sort, pack, check, clean, paint and repair, we wouldn’t be able to match our region’s surplus to the needs of our international partners.

This volunteer’s words were a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do!   If you are interested in volunteering at Global Links, visit our website.
